Terms of Service

These Terms of Service explain how you can use Walk Mode and what you can expect from the app. Walk Mode requires a Walk Mode account. By using Walk Mode, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

You must be of legal age in your country to use Walk Mode. Our Privacy Policy explains what data the app stores and how it is handled.

Using the App

You may use Walk Mode only in ways that follow the law and these terms. You may not interfere with the app, try to access it without permission, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use it in a way that harms the service or other users.

Accounts

You need a Walk Mode account to use the app. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email. Your profile, walks, and progress sync through your account so you can continue on another device.

You are responsible for keeping access to your account and email safe. If you think someone else has access to your account, contact us at support@walkmodeapp.com.

Walks, Check-ins, and Your Safety

Walk Mode helps you plan walks, follow routes, and check in at points of interest. These features are optional tools. You decide when, where, and how to walk and when to check in.

You are solely responsible for your choices and conduct when using Walk Mode. You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, respect property rights and any restrictions on access, and exercise your own judgement as to whether a route, place, or activity is safe and suitable for you.

You must not follow a route or enter a place that is closed, restricted, obstructed, or that conditions have made unsafe, and you must abandon or alter any route where doing so is necessary. You must not use the app in a manner that endangers you or any other person, and you must not take risks on account of the app that you would not otherwise take.

Walk Mode uses location, maps, route planning, and nearby place features from your device and Apple services. Route suggestions, travel times, nearby places, check-in prompts, map images, and generated summaries are provided for convenience only and may be incomplete or out of date.

Do not rely on Walk Mode as a safety system or as a guarantee that a route or place is open, safe, accessible, legally enterable, or suitable for you.

Step Counting and Health Information

If you allow Motion & Fitness access, Walk Mode counts your steps during walks using your device's motion sensors and shows the count with each finished walk. Step counts are estimates produced by your device and may differ from other apps or devices.

Walk Mode is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Step counts, distances, times, and progress statistics are for general information and motivation only. Do not rely on them for health, medical, or fitness decisions - talk to a qualified professional before starting or changing an exercise routine, especially if you have a health condition.

Apple Watch

Walk Mode includes an Apple Watch companion app that mirrors the walk running on your iPhone, including the route map, your position, remaining distance and time, and stop check-ins. The watch app requires a compatible Apple Watch and iPhone, and depends on the connection between your devices, so information shown on the watch may be delayed or temporarily unavailable.

The safety rules above apply on the watch too: keep your eyes on your surroundings, not on your wrist, and do not interact with the watch app while crossing streets or in other situations that need your attention.

Profile, Posts, Comments, and Ratings

You may add a display name, profile photo, cover photo, point-of-interest ratings, check-ins, walk posts, photos, comments, and reactions through the app. You are responsible for what you choose to add or post.

If you post a walk or check-in, other people who can see that post may see details from it, such as your display name, profile photo, route shape, places on the walk, check-in place, posted photo, comments, and reactions.

Do not post content that is illegal, abusive, threatening, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, misleading, spam, or that violates someone else's rights or privacy.

Public place rating totals and check-in totals may be shown in the app, but those totals are not shown as a list of names.

Walks You Share With Others

You can plan a walk and invite other people to it. Only invite people who want to hear from you. Repeatedly inviting someone who has declined, or using invitations to harass or spam, is not allowed.

While a shared walk is running, everyone on that walk can see where the others are on the map. Joining a walk means accepting that. Your position stops being shared when you finish or leave the walk, or when the walk ends or is cancelled, and you can leave at any time.

Do not record, republish, or pass on another person's position from a shared walk, and do not use shared walks to follow or keep track of someone. If you no longer want someone to be able to invite you, block them in the app.

Purchases

Walk Mode offers Walk Mode Plus, which unlocks paid features. Apple handles App Store payment and billing. Walk Mode uses a purchase service to check whether Plus is active and to help restore purchases. Walk Mode does not control Apple's billing or refund decisions.

Availability and Changes

Walk Mode may change, suspend, or remove features at any time. We do not guarantee that the app will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device, region, or operating system version.

Intellectual Property

The Walk Mode app, its software, branding, layout, and original content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the app for its intended purpose.

Disclaimers

You use Walk Mode entirely at your own risk and on your own responsibility.

Walk Mode is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and reliability.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Walk Mode and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, business, revenue, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the app, your inability to use the app, or your reliance on route, place, map, or generated content.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are also not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the app, from any inaccuracy in the information it provides, or from the conduct of other users.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the amount you paid for Walk Mode in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Reporting Content and How We Moderate

You can report a post, comment, place, or user from inside the app. Reports are reviewed by a person, not by an automated system, and we may remove content or restrict an account that breaks these terms or the law.

Where the law requires us to give reasons for removing content or restricting an account, we will do so to the extent required. support@walkmodeapp.com is our contact point for users, for authorities, and for reports of illegal content.

Termination

We may suspend or end access to Walk Mode if needed to protect the service, follow the law, respond to misuse, or protect other users. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting your account in the app, which deletes your data, or by removing the app from your device.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. If you keep using Walk Mode after an update takes effect, that means you accept the updated terms.

Your Rights as a Consumer

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in, and nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Where local consumer law gives you more than these terms do, that law applies.
